COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - The Texas Rangers have traded Round Rock Express LHP Chad Bell to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for C Bobby Wilson, the club announced Tuesday. Wilson is expected to join the major league club on Wednesday.

Bell, 27, has spent the entire 2016 campaign with the Express, making five appearances (two starts). He is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA (18.0ip/3er) over that span. He has yet to allow a home run and has recorded 19 strikeouts to just five walks. The lefty started the season in the bullpen before transitioning to the starting rotation. In two starts, he allowed just one earned run in a combined 10.1 innings of work (0.87 ERA) while holding opponents to a .167 average.

Originally drafted in the 14th round of the 2009 First Year Player Draft, Bell was in his seventh season with the Rangers organization. He underwent Tommy John surgery during the spring of 2013 and made his first outing back with the Express before being transferred to Low-A Hickory on May 18, 2014.

There is no corresponding move at this time.

The Express continue a four-game road trip tonight at 7:35 p.m. CT in Colorado Springs before returning home for an eight-game homestand Friday.
