Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees hit the road on Monday night and fell 6-1 to the Tacoma Rainiers. Chris Taylor put Tacoma in front with a two run homer in the first inning and they never looked back. The Rainiers would add two more runs in the third, one in the fourth and one more in the sixth on a leadoff homer by former Bee Ed Lucas. Salt Lake's only run came in the fifth inning when Kyle Kubitza tripled off of the right field wall and scored on a single to right by Juan Graterol.

Bees' starter Chris Jones (1-2) was charged with the loss, as he went six innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on eight hits with one walk and one strikeout. Former Rainier Lucas Luetge came out of the Salt Lake bullpen and retired all six batters he faced. Kubitza led the Bees with two hits, one triple and one double. Jefry Marte went 0-for-4 to snap a nine game hitting streak. With the loss, Salt Lake has now dropped three straight games for the first time this season.
