May 3, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - The Chicago Cubs selected the contract of outfielder Ryan Kalish from Iowa today. Kalish took the 40-man roster spot of Christian Villanueva, who was transferred to the 60-day disabled list today, and replaced Matt Szczur on the Cubs' active roster. Szczur was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain.

The 28-year-old Kalish ranked fifth in the Pacific Coast League with a .368 batting average entering today and was third with a .471 on-base percentage. He hit safely in 11 of 15 starts with the I-Cubs and recorded six multi-hit games.

Kalish missed all of last season with injury and was prepping to play Independent League ball before signing a minor league contract with the Cubs on March 3. Kalish spent 2014 with the Cubs' organization, hitting .248 in 57 games with Chicago and .322 in 87 games with Iowa.
