Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that goaltender Dan LaCosta has been reassigned by the Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL) to their American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.
LaCosta, a third round (93rd overall) pick by Columbus in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, stopped 28 shots in recording his seventh win of the year, a 3-1 decision over the Johnstown Chiefs last night at First Arena. In 14 appearances with Elmira this season, LaCosta has posted a record of 7-4-1 with a 2.15 goals against average and a .932 save percentage.
After joining the Jackals October 23rd, the second-year pro dropped his first four decisions of the season (0-3-0-1) before going on a six-game winning streak from November 17th (4-1 win @ Texas) through January 19th (7-1 win vs. Wheeling). The elongated streak spanned two months as it was interrupted by an ankle injury on November 29th that knocked LaCosta out of action until being activated from the injured reserve in mid-January.
LaCosta spent 19 games with Syracuse last year with a 5-7-1 record with three shutouts, a 2.82 goals against average and an .894 save percentage.
