Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that right wing Jim McKenzie has been reassigned by the Ottawa Senators (NHL) to their American Hockey League affiliate in Binghamton while defenseman Jeff State has been placed on the 3-day injured reserve list.

McKenzie, a 5th round (141st overall) pick by Ottawa in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, receives his third call-up of the year to Binghamton after forwards Nick Foligno and Josh Hennessy were summoned to Ottawa earlier this week. In 29 games with Elmira, McKenzie has six goals and five assists for 11 points, 26 PIM and a +3 rating. He picked up an assist in last night's 3-1 win over Johnstown at First Arena.

State suffered an upper body injury in last night's win over the Chiefs. In four games with Elmira, State is pointless with 10 penalty minutes and an even +/- rating.

McKenzie's recall and State's placement on the injured reserve leaves the Jackals with 13 healthy skaters (seven forwards and six defensemen) heading into a three-game weekend that begins tomorrow night in Trenton against the Devils. Elmira tackles three divisional contests and begins the weekend two points behind the North Division-leading Cincinnati Cyclones.
