
Kuznetsov Placed On IR; Cava Activated

BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced today that center Sergei Kuznetsov (SAIR-gay kooz-NEHT-zahv) has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve, while defenseman Chris Cava (KAHV-ah) has been activated off the 30-day injured reserve.
Kuznetsov, 24, has notched 20 goals, 70 points and has a +14 this season. The 6-foot and 200-pound Kuznetsov is in his fourth season with Mississippi. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round, 146th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
Cava, 23, missed 14 games after being placed on injured reserve on February 22. A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Cava has tallied three goals, five points and 162 penalty minutes in 43 games this season. The 6-foot and 200-pound Cava is in his second season with the Sea Wolves after being acquired in a trade with Roanoke on August 15, 2002.
Cava and the Sea Wolves get back into action at 7:05 p.m. tonight against the Texas Wildcatters at Ford Arena in Beaumont. Coverage of the game begins with the Nextel Pregame Show at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio WXBD-AM 1490 and online at msseawolves.com.
Mississippi concludes its regular season with two home games at 7:35 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The Sea Wolves host the Pensacola Ice Pilots tomorrow with the game promotion consisting of 2-for-1 military, sponsored by Keesler Federal Credit Union. On Saturday, Mississippi entertains the Louisiana IceGators. The Sea Wolves will be wearing special Southern Miss jerseys, which will be auctioned postgame to benefit the Southern Miss Alumni Scholarship Fund.
