San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO — Sylvain Deschatelets has been named as the Pogy's/JQC Golf Gulls Player of the Month for March. The San Diego center, who also took home the award in February, will be honored before the Gulls-Aces game on Saturday.

Deschatelets, 24, earns the March honors after posting 21 points (7g, 14a) in 14 games. He scored at least one point in 13 of those games and two points in seven games. Deschatelets had a three-point night March 23 in a 5-3 win against the Long Beach Ice Dogs. He was also a +12 and scored two game-winning goals.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 210-pound native of Blainville, Quebec had his career-high and ECHL season-high 23-game point streak snapped Wednesday against the Las Vegas Wranglers. He now has the second-longest scoring streak in Gulls franchise history, three games away from the record set by Kyle Reeves in 1997-98.

In 70 games overall this season, Deschatelets has accumulated a career-high 80 points (24g, 56a), which ranks him in a fifth place tie atop the ECHL leader boards.

Last season, Deschatelets notched 63 points (23g, 40a) in 65 games. He led San Diego with 40 assists and ranked first in the West Coast Hockey League with nine shootout goals.

This is his fourth professional season and second full season with San Diego. He made his pro debut with the Gulls during the 2000 WCHL playoffs. Deschatelets has also played for the East Coast Hockey League's New Orleans Brass and United Hockey League's Adirondack IceHawks. He's also played five games in the American Hockey League.
