
Kuhnhackl Loaned to Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The New York Islanders announced Wednesday that forward Tom Kuhnhackl has been loaned to the team's American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In addition, goaltender Christopher Gibson has been recalled on emergency conditions.
Kuhnhackl, 26, recorded one goal in four games with the Islanders this season, scoring in Tuesday's 6-3 road win against his former team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Last year, he notched eight points (two goals, six assists) in 69 games with Pittsburgh during his sixth and final season in the Penguins organization.
A native of Landshut, Germany, Kuhnhackl has 40 points (12 goals, 28 assists) in 172 regular-season NHL games with Pittsburgh, and an additional seven points (three goals, four assists) in 47 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances. He is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion (2016, 2017). In addition, the 6'2, 196-pound forward boasts 59 points (29 goals, 30 assists) in 154 AHL games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
He was initially selected by Pittsburgh in the fourth round (#110 overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
Next time Out: The Sound Tigers conclude a three-game road trip on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. matchup against the Springfield Thunderbirds at MassMutual Center.
