The Rocket this Week
October 31, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Laval Rocket News Release
The Rocket begins a three-game homestand on Wednesday, October 31st against the Belleville Senators, followed by back-to-back encounters with the Utica Comets on November 2nd and 3rd.
Laval embarked on a two-game road trip last week. They stopped in Toronto on October 23rd, where the Rocket players were able to pick up a precious point against the reigning Calder Cup champions. Defenseman Cale Fleury scored his first career professional goal in the 2-1 overtime loss at the hands of the Marlies. The players were back in action over the weekend while the club was visiting the Rochester Americans, and despite a great start to the game, the visitors fell short in a second consecutive heartbreaking loss, this time by a score of 3-2.
The Senators head into Laval to face the Rocket for the first time this season on Wednesday night, Halloween Night. For the occasion, fans of all ages are invited to attend the game in costume. Last season, the Rocket had a record of 7-3-1-1 in 12 games against its division rival. Belleville enters the matchup with a 4-5-0-0 record since the start of the 2018-19 season, putting it just one point ahead of the Rocket. Wednesday's tilt, then, will have a big impact on the standings.
The weekend will put the Utica Comets, who will be visiting Laval on Friday and Saturday, in the spotlight, and Michael Chaput's former team will not be an easy opponent for the Rocket. Joël Bouchard's players will try to deliver another solid performance in front of their fans on Friday night, all while the color lavender takes over Place Bell for Hockey Fights Cancer night. The players will wear alternative jerseys during the warmup which will then be auctioned off to raise money during the game.
The two teams will do battle again at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday for the second game of their back-to-back, while the Kids Run the Show game presented by Sweet Sixteen returns to the Place Bell. For the occasion, kids will be everywhere - on the ice to shovel off snow, hanging out with Cosmo, and even sitting alongside the public address announcer to give him a hand throughout the game.
The Rocket enters the week with a 3-5-1-0 record in nine games so far this season, despite the fact that Joël Bouchard's team has continue to dominate in the scoring chances and shots on net categories. The Rocket have directed 290 shots on net since the start of the season, while only allowing 178.
