Game Day Build-Up: Senators at Rocket, October 31

October 31, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

The set-up

It'll be a Halloween match-up Wednesday as the Belleville Senators square off with the Laval Rocket for the first time this season.

Belleville (4-5-0-0) slipped a game under .500 once again Saturday after defeat to Grand Rapids as Troy Mann's squad will look to get back to the .500 mark for the fourth time this season.

The Sens continue to convert on the power play as they ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference having converted 10 of its 41 chances. Belleville sits fifth in the North Division standings but have played less games than three of the four teams above them and sit one point outside of fourth place, currently held by Binghamton.

After a big summer turnover, Laval (3-5-1-0) have been sluggish out of the gates again this season and have lost its past four games and have won just two of its first five home games.

While the Rocket hold the second best penalty kill in the AHL, they rank 29th on the power play.

Roster notes

Sens forward Jack Rodewald was rewarded for his solid start to the season by being recalled by Ottawa Saturday.

With Belleville set for another three in four this week, Mann will have to decide his goaltending plans although Mike McKenna getting two of the three starts seems the likely outcome.

Marcus Hogberg and Logan Brown didn't travel as they remain out injured.

Previous history

Last season, Belleville went 5-6-1-0 against the Rocket although the Senators did win the final three contests between the sides last year. The two teams will face off 12 times again this year.

Who to watch

Newly signed Adam Tambellini is starting to heat up for the Senators as the British Columbia native has tallied five points over his past five games. Tambellini's six points are tied fourth most on the team while his three goals are tied for second.

In his first professional season, Laval defenceman Cale Fleury is starting to make a name for himself. The 19-year-old has four points (one goal) in seven contests and is their second highest scoring d-man after Brett Kulak.

Where to watch

Wednesday's game starts at 7:30pm and can be seen on AHLTV. Fans can also watch tonight's contest at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.

The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 7:20pm with Jack Miller on the call.
