Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
KENOSHA, WI - Stephen Krause's big home run in the eighth inning led the Bombers to a big victory over the Kenosha Kingfish 7-4.
Krause went deep of Kenosha reliever Randon Dauman to lead off the inning and it put the Bombers ahead for good. His second home run of the season broke a 4-4 tie as the Bombers exploded for three runs in the eighth.
This all came after the Bombers got out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh. Bombers reliever Adam Davis walked the bases loaded with one out. But Davis came up clutch and redeemed himself by striking out MacKay Barney on a full count pitch. Then he got Mitch Jebb to ground out to leave the bases loaded.
Davis recorded the win in relief, pitching 2.2 innings recording two strikeouts, giving up no hits and stranding six runners on base. He relieved Brayden Lloyd who started for the Bombers and gave up four runs and seven hits in 4.2 innings of work.
The Kingfish took a 3-2 lead in the third scoring three runs on three hits. They would then tie the game at four on a RBI double by Xavier Watson.
The Bombers once again scored first. Two Bombers came home in the second inning as Krause reached on an error to score a run and Mason Sykes hit an RBI single. The Bombers would add a run in a fourth and fifth as well.
Sykes had a big day at the plate going 3-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Davis Burgin recorded a six-out save for the Bombers striking out six over two innings.
The win closed the Bombers four-game road trip as the Bombers went 3-1 on the trip. The win also moved the Bombers into second place in the Great Lakes East standings.
The Bombers return home for a three-game series with the Rockford Rivets starting tomorrow with a doubleheader. First pitch of game one scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
