Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters (9-4) continue to win the second game of a road series with big offense, beating the Kalamazoo Growlers (5-8) 7-2 on Sunday.
Jeremy Neff (2-0, 1.69) dominated hitters all afternoon. The lefty went six innings of two-hit shutout ball, striking out a season-high seven batters.
After three scoreless frames, Zeb Roos provided the offense with a spark. He led off the fourth inning with his first homer of the year. Roos would walk and score in the sixth and double in a run and score in the seventh. He finished 2-4 with two RBI's.
Colin Summerhill had a big game, going 3-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. He punctuated the night with a backhanded catch on a hard liner to end the game.
Michael Stygles and Camden Traficante each had RBI singles, and Miguel Useche broke through with his first hit of the season.
The bullpen shined again, led by John Beuckelaere (1-0, 1 SV). Beuckelaere entered the game in the seventh and hit the first batter he faced to load the bases with nobody out. He struck out the next batter and got two soft flyouts to get out of the jam in a scoreless inning. Beuckelaere finished the game, collecting four strikeouts over three innings to collect the save.
