San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO â The San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League announced today that the Florida Panthers have assigned defenseman Lukas Krajicek and reassigned right wing Pierre Dagenais. Both players will join the Rampage for their game against the Houston Aeros on Friday night, April 4.
Krajicek, 20, joins the Rampage after completing the season with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League. His junior season ended on Tuesday night, April 1, when the Petes lost, 4-3, in overtime to the Oshawa Generals in their first round playoff matchup. Krajicek recorded three assists in the seven-game series.
"Lukas is without question one of the most talented young defensemen in the world," said Panthers General Manger Rick Dudley. "His upside in the very near future is enormous, and one awaits in anticipation for him to mature. Playoff experience with San Antonio at that level will certainly expedite that maturation process."
Krajicek finished the regular season tied for fifth in scoring among all OHL defensemen tallying 53 points (11-42-53). He compiled 42 penalty minutes and had a +11 plus/minus rating. It was his third season with Peterborough where he has played in 168 regular season games, amassing 130 points (29-101-130).
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound native of Prostejov, Czech Republic, made his Panthers debut on April 6, 2002, at Toronto. For his career he has played in five scoreless games with the Panthers, all coming during the 2001-02 campaign.
Krajicek was the Panthers second choice (first round, 24th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He has represented the Czech Republic in each of the past two World Junior Championships.
Dagenais, 24, earned his fourth call-up to the parent club on March 21. He has appeared in nine scoreless games with the Panthers this year averaging 6:00 minutes of ice time. For his career, the Blainville, Quebec native has totaled 19 points (13-6-19) in 60 National Hockey League contests. In 46 games with the Rampage this season Dagenais has recorded 21 goals and 13 assists.
In addition, the Rampage today reassigned forward Eric Schneider to the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League.
Schneider, 25, played in the Buck series clinching 3-2 win over the Odessa Jackalopes on Tuesday night, recording one assist, before rejoining the Rampage for their contest in Houston last night. In three playoff games with Laredo he has picked up three points (1-2-3) with a +4 plus/minus rating. The Bucks move on to face the Austin Ice Bats in the Southern Conference championship, which begins this evening.
In 23 games with San Antonio this year he has registered 10 points (3-7-10) and 27 penalty minutes.
The Rampage are back in action on Friday night, April 4, when they visit their intrastate rivals the Houston Aeros at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard live on KTKR "The Ticket" 760 AM with Andrew Monaco calling all the action.
