Worcester IceCats News Release

WORCESTER, MA - Totals from the Worcester IceCats "Tip A 'Cat for Education" dinner, held in conjunction with the Kiwanis Club of Worcester on Monday evening, are in and the results show a $20,271 return for the Union Hill School. The dinner, which had the IceCats players working as waiters for the 200-plus guests, was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The capital generated from the event will go towards renovating the library at the inner city neighborhood school and turning it into a top-of-the-line learning center. New computers and comfortable furniture will now become available to the students. The money will also assist Union Hill in establishing an after-school program.

"Events like this are win-win," noted IceCats Executive Vice President Kevin Cummings. "With local schools like Union Hill facing some financial burdens, it was great to know that our team could get together with a bunch of friends, have fun, and raise some money."

The guests at the "Tip A 'Cat" dinner also participated in an auction which featured sports memorabilia and donations from IceCats community partners. All told, the auction portion of the fundraiser generated over $6,000.

"We are already thinking about next year's dinner," said Cummings. "The IceCats and the Kiwanis have laid a great foundation and are excited to build on it."

The 'Cats have only three regular season games remaining, including Friday night at home against the Manchester Monarchs at 7:05 PM and Sunday in Worcester at 4:05 against Springfield.
