Orlando City SC News Release

Back to MLS play! City looks to continue their three-game winning streak across all competitions on Wednesday night in the nation's capital. This will be the second and final regular season meeting between City and D.C. United. Here is what you need to know about City's opponents:

Recent Acquisitions

The only change from D.C. United's roster since the last meeting with City back on March 31st has been the addition of defender Marquinhos Pedroso of waivers from FC Dallas.

Recent Form

D.C. has had a drop in form in recent weeks. The side has not won a league game since May 12th when they edged out Sporting KC 1-0. In their last five matches across all competitions, United is 1-1-3. United will be without Paul Arriola due to national team duty.

Who's Hot

We'll start at the very top, Wayne Rooney. The English forward has continued his form from last year by leading D.C. United in goals with eight and in assists with five. Rooney was voted into the 2019 MLS All-Star Fan XI to face Atletico Madrid on July 31st at Exploria Stadium. At the back, Bill Hamid and the United defense have kept seven clean sheets in 17 matches. United have only allowed 18 goals this season which is the third best defensive record in the East.

Head-to-Head

Including last year's meetings, City is 1-2-1 against United in all competitions. All three meetings had their fair share of drama as well as the previous meeting this year with a few calls going the way of City's Eastern Conference rivals.

Rasmussen College Fun Fact

This will be the second time former Manchester United teammates, Wayne Rooney and Nani, face off in MLS play. The first time, both captained their respective sides with Rooney grabbing a goal in the first half.
