New York Red Bulls News Release

HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls defender Kemar Lawrence has been named to the roster for the 2019 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target. Lawrence earns his first MLS All-Star honors as one of 13 selections made by All-Star head coach James O'Connor of Orlando City SC. The MLS All-Stars face 10-time La Liga Champions Altetico Madrid at Orlando's Exploria Stadium on Wednesday, July 31.

Lawrence, now in his fifth season with the Red Bulls, has been a mainstay during two Supporters' Shield seasons, four-straight playoff appearances, and three Concacaf Champions League runs. In 2018 Lawrence made 28 appearances as New York allowed a league-low 33 goals en route to MLS records for points (71) and wins (22) in a season.

Lawrence earned his first MLS Best XI award for the 2018 season. Lawrence recently surpassed the 100 games played mark in MLS. Across all competitions, he has more than 130 appearances for the Red Bulls, contributing four goals and 12 assists in addition to being a shut-down defender.

Lawrence is currently with Jamaica for the Concacaf Gold Cup. Lawrence has been an integral part of the Reggae Boyz during his time in New York, with over 40 caps and a starting spot in the Copa America Centenario, several Gold Cups, and World Cup qualification.

This impressive collection of MLS stars will face Atlético de Madrid, whose ten La Liga championships rank among the top three in Spain. The iconic club has won 30 trophies across all competitions, including Europa League in 2018, and finished second in La Liga in 2019.
