Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Pittsburgh's number-one prospect Tyler Glasnow allowed just four hits over 6.1 shutout innings as the Indianapolis Indians beat the Charlotte Knights by a score of 6-0 on Saturday in game three of the four-game series from BB&T Ballpark. Saturday's contest came less than 24 hours after the teams played two games on Friday. The Knights and Indians split Friday night's doubleheader.

Glasnow (1-0, 0.99) struck-out nine batters on the afternoon en route to his first career Triple-A victory. Saturday's start was Glasnow's second of the season against the Knights. The 21-year-old right-hander made his Triple-A debut against the Knights back on August 1, but did not factor in the decision that day. His win on Saturday also came just one day before his 22nd birthday.

The Indians scored their first run of the afternoon in the top of the second inning, added two runs in the fifth, and tacked on three more in the ninth inning for their second win in as many days against the Knights. Charlotte starter Kyle Drabek (7-8, 3.36) allowed three runs over five innings and was saddled with the loss. In all, Drabek gave up eight hits and walked two on the day.

Indianapolis center fielder Keon Broxton led the way with two hits including his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth frame. First baseman Josh Bell chipped in with two hits and two RBIs for the Indians, who recorded 11 hits on the day. Three Indianapolis relievers kept the Knights at bay over the final 2.2 innings.

Catcher Rob Brantly had two of Charlotte's four hits and upped his batting average to .322 in 16 games with the Knights in 2015. Infielder Drew Garcia moved into seventh place on the all-time Knights franchise list for at-bats. Garcia, who is in his fourth season with the Knights, also appeared in his 294th career Knights game -- good for seventh all-time in franchise history.

The two teams will conclude their four-game series from BB&T Ballpark on Sunday with a 5:05 p.m. game. RHP Brad Penny (6-7, 4.16) will get the start for the Knights against Indianapolis RHP Chris Volstad (9-6, 3.35). North Carolina natives and professional wrestling legends, the Hardys (Jeff and Matt), will meet fans and sign autographs on Sunday. After the game, kids can "Run the Bases" courtesy of Academy Sports & Outdoors. Sundays are Sunbelt Family Sundays, presented by Sunbelt Rentals.
