Charlotte Knights News Release
(NORFOLK, VA) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped game five of the six-game series against the Norfolk Tides by a score of 15-3 from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA on Sunday night. Despite the loss, the team's offensive leader continued his remarkable season.
Outfielder Víctor Reyes picked up where he left off on Saturday night. A night after his pinch-hit RBI single in the 10th inning won the game for the Knights on Saturday, Reyes launched his team-high 15th home run of the season and drove home all three of Charlotte's runs in Sunday's game. The three-hit, three-RBI night was another solid step in the right direction for Reyes, who leads the Knights with the 15 home runs and 60 RBI this season.
Along with Reyes, outfielder Oscar Colás continued his offensive tear. Colás extended his hit streak to 10 consecutive games with a single in the top of the first inning. The Knights combined to tally a total of 10 hits in the loss on Sunday.
LHP John Parke (1-5, 7.54) was activated off the Development List before the game and started for the Knights on Sunday. Parke, who was saddled with the loss, allowed five runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings pitched.
In all, the Tides scored 15 runs on 19 hits in the team's game five victory. The Tides, who have won four of the five games played in the series, received a three-run home run from Baltimore Orioles slugger Ryan Mountcastle in the eighth inning. The home run was his first on his rehab assignment with the Tides.
The Knights and the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) will play the finale of the six-game series from Harbor Park in Norfolk, VA on Monday night. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Monday is set for 6:35 p.m. from the home of the Tides.
