Charlotte Knights News Release
NASHVILLE - Charlotte Knights pitcher Noah Schultz took the mound on Wednesday in his first start of the 2026 season. Schultz had already pitched a gem out of the bullpen on Opening Day that resulted in his first Triple-A win; however, the lefty added another victory to his ledger with a five-inning, two-hit performance against the Nashville Sounds.
The Knights did plenty of damage offensively early in the contest. Drew Romo's RBI groundout in the second inning opened the scoring and Charlotte added a pair of runs in both the third and fourth frames. Oliver Dunn, LaMonte Wade Jr., and William Bergolla Jr. all delivered RBI hits that helped the Knights build a 5-1 advantage after four stanzas.
The score remained 5-1 until Nashville crept within two thanks to a strong bottom of the seventh inning. Charlotte absorbed the blow and delivered the knockout punch in the top of the ninth. The Knights plated four more runs that included an RBI single by Dustin Harris and a bases loaded walk drawn by Wade Jr.
Bergolla Jr. led all players with three hits while Wade Jr., Sam Antonacci, and Darren Baker contributed two hits to the offensive outburst. Eight of the nine Knights starters recorded at least one hit and the unit as a whole walked nine times.
Wikelman Gonzalez, Adisyn Coffey, and Zach Franklin covered the final four innings out of the bullpen for Charlotte. The relief pitching continues to be a major strength and is one of the key reasons the Knights have begun the year with a 4-1 record.
Charlotte and Nashville will meet up for game three of the series on Thursday evening at 7:35pm ET.
