Gwinnett Stripers News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - In their first-ever game in the state of Texas, the Gwinnett Stripers (1-3) notched their first win of the 2026 season with a 5-3 thriller in 10 innings over the Round Rock Express (1-3) on Tuesday night. Chadwick Tromp's two-out single in the ninth inning tied it, and the Stripers scored twice without a hit in the 10th to spoil Opening Night at Dell Diamond.

Decisive Plays: Solo home runs by Jim Jarvis (1) and Aaron Schunk (1) staked the Stripers to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Gwinnett starter Lucas Braun cruised through 4.0 scoreless innings before surrendering a two-run homer to Trevor Hauver (1) that tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth. In the seventh, Hauver struck again with an RBI single off Dylan Dodd to put the Express ahead 3-2. Down to their last strike in the ninth, the Stripers tied the game on Tromp's flare single into shallow right field scoring Jose Azocar. In the 10th, Gwinnett went ahead 5-3 on three walks, a hit batter, and two run-scoring wild pitches.

Key Contributors: Jarvis (1-for-4, homer, RBI), Schunk (1-for-4, homer, RBI), and Tromp (1-for-3, RBI) drove in three of Gwinnett's five runs. Ian Hamilton (W, 1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth and Javy Guerra (S, 1) added a scoreless 10th. Hauver (3-for-4, homer, 3 RBIs) drove in all three runs for the Express.

Noteworthy: In addition to being Gwinnett's first-ever game in Texas, it also marked the franchise's first time facing a team from the Pacific Coast League. It was the third road opener in Gwinnett history to go to extra innings, first since a 10-9 win in 12 innings on May 4, 2021 at Charlotte. Jarvis's leadoff homer - Gwinnett's first since Jarred Kelenic on on July 13, 2025 at Indianapolis - extended his hitting streak to four games (.438, 7-for-16, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1.214 OPS).
