
Newcomer Fairchild Homers Twice as Clippers Win

COLUMBUS, OH - The 1st of April saw the Columbus Clippers pick up their fourth straight victory, and second in a row against visiting Indianapolis, winning 6-1 on Wednesday night. The game started a little late due to rain, but the fans who stuck around got another chance to do the new winning celebration, the Clipp Clap.
Starting pitcher Trenton Denholm (1-0) was masterful over 6.0 innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out eight to earn his first career win at the Triple-A level. On the evening, Clippers pitching surrendered just three hits.
Indy took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, but Columbus answered immediately when Kahlil Watson led off the bottom of the frame with a solo homer, his first of the year.
One inning later, Stuart Fairchild crushed his first long ball of the season to right-center field, giving the Clippers a 2-1 advantage.
In the 4th inning, first baseman Kody Huff delivered a RBI-single to extend the lead to two. Juan Brito singled in another run in the bottom of the 7th, giving the infielder 3 RBI this season.
Columbus added two more insurance runs in the 8th, beginning when Fairchild crushed his second long ball of the night.

Watson added a run-scoring single to make it a 6-1 game. Left-handed reliver Steven Perez closed the door in the 9th to finish things off.
Columbus and Indianapolis meet again on Thursday, when the Clippers transform for the first time this season into Los Veleros. First pitch is scheduled for 6:15pm. Tickets are available by calling 614-462-5250 or visiting the ticket section of ClippersBaseball.com.
