Storm Chasers Drop Home Opener against Bisons

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
PAPILLION, NEB. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (0-4) couldn't win their home opener against the Buffalo Bisons (2-2) Tuesday evening, dropping the game 6-4. Eight of nine Storm Chasers recorded a hit, including a 3-hit night from Kevin Newman, but it wasn't enough to overcome early Buffalo runs.
The Storm Chasers were the first to score thanks to an RBI double from Luca Tresh in the bottom of the 1st inning that put Omaha on top 1-0.
That lead was short-lived as Buffalo got back 2 runs of their own in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Omaha stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the 2nd inning, allowing the Bisons to extend the lead to 3-1 with a solo homer in the top of the 3rd inning.
Storm Chasers right-hander Beck Way relieved starter Ryan Ramsey (0-1) to begin the 4th inning, but after a scoreless frame, he allowed an RBI triple in the top of the 5th inning to extend the gap to 4-1. While he worked a 1-2-3 first inning, Ramsey allowed 3 runs on 4 hits over 3.0 innings in his first start of the year.
Behind Way, right-hander Jose Cuas worked 2.0 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeoiuts, including a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
Newman got a run back for the Storm Chasers in the bottom of the 6th inning on an RBI single, but a two-run double from Buffalo in the top of the 9th inning made it a 6-2 game.
After pitching a perfect 8th inning, Bisons reliever Chase Lee came back out for the bottom of the 9th inning, and even though Omaha scored 2 runs on an error and groundout, Lee still finished it out to earn the save.
The Storm Chasers remain winless in 2026 while the Bisons move back to .500 with their 2nd win of the year. The two teams will rematch for the 2nd game of the series on Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. CT at Werner Park. Right-hander Ryan Bergert is scheduled to make his 2nd start of the season for Omaha while lefty Josh Fleming is set to start for Buffalo.
