MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled center Matt Ryan and defenseman Richard Petiot from Manchester, Kings President of Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. In addition, the Monarchs have signed defenseman Chris Barr to a professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Ryan, 22, has played in six games with the Kings this season, his first with the club, and has zero points and two penalty minutes. In 32 games with the Monarchs this season, the 5-foot-11, 182-pound native of Sharon, Ontario, has 11 points (4-7=11), 44 penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of plus-four. Signed by the Kings as a free agent on August 2, 2004, Ryan was recalled by the Kings on December 31 and made his Kings/NHL debut that night at Dallas. He was most recently assigned to Manchester on Sunday.
Petiot, 23, was most recently assigned by the Kings to Manchester on January 13. With Manchester this season, Petiot has eight points (3-5=8), 28 penalty minutes and a plus-11 rating in 33 games. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Daysland, Alberta, was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth-round (116th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He has been recalled by the Kings on multiple occasions this season and has not appeared in a regular season game.
Barr, 23, appeared in three games with the Monarchs earlier this season, collecting seven penalty minutes. Barr has also appeared in 31 games with the ECHL's Reading Royals, registering six points (1-5=6) and 44 penalty minutes. The last two seasons, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, played for the University of Saskatchewan (2003-05). In 52 games with the Huskies, Barr collected 13 points (1-12=13) and 128 penalty minutes. Barr also participated in the Monarchs 2005-06 training camp.
The Monarchs hit the road for a four-game road trip starting on Wednesday, January 18 with a stop at the Hartford Civic Center for a 7:00 p.m. face-off with the Hartford Wolf Pack before heading west for weekend games against the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, the Iowa Stars and the Peoria Rivermen.
