Naumenko Joins River Rats

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats announced today that goaltender Gregg Naumenko has been signed to a professional tryout agreement.

Naumenko, 28, put together a 6-3-0 record with a 2.89 goals against average and a .889 save percentage in splitting 10 games between the Portland Pirates and Chicago Wolves of the AHL this season. He also dressed but did not see any action with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. His most recent game action came with the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL, where he went 3-3 with a 3.19 goals against average and a .901 save percentage in six games.

The Chicago, Illinois native made a splash in his first two professional campaigns as a member of the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks from 1999-2001. He posted a career-high 20 victories during the 2000-01 season, when he also made his National Hockey League debut with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

The River Rats continue their season-long seven game homestand against the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 7:00pm. All kids 12 and under get in free with a paid adult, and all Hannaford Supermarkets Kids Club members can take advantage of the new "Mouse Trap" kids concession stand with discount pricing.

The Albany River Rats, owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., are in their 13th American Hockey League campaign and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
