Peoria, IL (January 17, 2006) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that the Blues have reassigned left wing D. J. King from the ECHL Alaska Aces to the AHL Peoria Rivermen.

King, 21, was reassigned to Alaska of the ECHL on January 9. He appeared in four games as an Ace and recorded four assists, a +2 rating, and two penalty minutes. In 33 games with the Rivermen so far this season, the 6-3, 230-pounder has scored three goals, registered two assists, and incurred 109 penalty minutes, the second-highest total for any Peoria player to this point in 2005-06. The St. Louis Blues drafted the left winger from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, in the sixth round, 191st overall, of the 2002 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
