Kernels Make Roster Move

August 1, 2007 - The Cedar Rapids Kernels, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, announce today that INF Marco Albano has been assigned to the Tempe Angels of the Arizona League to become a pitcher and that INF Josh Davies has been assigned to the Kernels from Rancho Cucamonga.

Albano was in his second season with the Kernels and played in 28 games, batting .157 (13-83) with two doubles and six RBI. Marco pitched in one game, throwing one inning with two strikeouts.

Davies is making his third trip back to Cedar Rapids this season. He joined the team back on April 16, was promoted to Rancho Cucamonga on May 19, assigned back to Cedar Rapids on June 16, and promoted back to Rancho on July 25. In 30 games for the Kernels, he is batting .194 (20-103) with five doubles and five RBI.

Davies will join the team in Lansing and is expected to be in uniform for Thursday's game with the Lugnuts.

The roster moves set the Kernels roster at 25 active players, the maximum allowed in the Midwest League, with three players currently on the disabled list.
