COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Baseball America released its Best Tools awards for each league with the Whitecaps taking home four of the honors, including Tom Brookens as the Midwest League Best Managerial Prospect.

Along with Brookens, Whitecaps CF Gorkys Hernandez was named the Fastest Baserunner and Most Exciting Player in the Midwest League while 2B Scott Sizemore wins the Best Defensive Second Baseman honor.

Brookens has guided West Michigan to a 62-45 record in his first season with the 'Caps and has already locked up a playoff berth in the first half. Before coming to West Michigan, Brookens led the short-season Oneonta Tigers to two winning seasons the last two seasons.

Hernandez has energized his team and fans at Fifth Third Ballpark this season with his speed on the basepaths and in center field. He's currently hitting .288 with four home runs, 43 RBIs and a MWL-leading 39 stolen bases.

Sizemore is one of the reasons why the Whitecaps are the best fielding team in the Midwest League. Through 89 games at second base, Sizemore has made just 12 errors and has a fielding percentage of .971 while being a part of 68 turned double plays.

Baseball America has been naming the Best Tools award since 1986, which is voted on by the managers in the Midwest League. A full list of the awards can be found in the August 13-26 issue of Baseball America.
