Fort Wayne, IN - A switch of outfielders in the San Diego Padres system has resulted in the promotion of Mike Epping to the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League and the re-assignment of Robert Perry from the Storm to Fort Wayne.

Perry was selected in the 16th round of this year's Major League-Minor League Baseball Draft in early June.

Perry was drafted from the Long Beach State Dirtbags where he led the team in average with a .335 mark, runs with 50, four triples and 52 runs batted in. He earned all-conference honors three times, including first-team accolades this year.

Perry started his professional career with the Padres Arizona League team, hitting .391 with two home runs, six doubles, three triples and nine runs batted in, in 16 games. He was 9-of-12 in stolen base attempts. In 19 games with the Storm, Perry hit .259 with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and 12 RBI.

Epping hit .217 with eight doubles, one triple and four home runs, along with 15 RBI in 34 games with the Wizards.

The Wizards roster currently has 24 active players, one below the maximum allowed of 25 by the Midwest League.

Perry becomes the seventh 2007 draft pick by the Padres to join the Wizards, joining pitchers Nick Schmidt, Cory Luebke, Allen Harrington and Brandon Gomes, along with catcher Luis Martinez and outfielder Keith Conlon.
