Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

The cities of Davenport and Rock Island are inviting Quad City residents to come to John O'Donnell Stadium for free on Wednesday, August 8, as part of a celebration after being honored the most livable small cities in America.

There will be 2,000 free general admission tickets handed out at John O'Donnell Stadium on the day of the game on a first-come, first-serve basis. The contest, scheduled for a Noon start against the Dayton Dragons, will also feature live music as well as games and activities for kids.

"It is our pleasure to play host to the celebration," said Swing General Manager Ben Burke. "There is no question that it was a well-deserved honor for both Davenport and Rock Island, and we are thrilled to be able to contribute to the high quality of life in the Quad Cities."

The celebration comes on the heels of a June 25 announcement by the U.S. Conference of Mayors that named Davenport and Rock Island the first-place award winners for livability in the small-city category (population 100,000 or less). The conference, which represents more than 1,200 American cities, had more than 200 cities to choose from.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors will be on hand at the ballgame for a pre-game presentation beginning at 11:15 AM, and Mayors Ed Winborn of Davenport and Mark Schwiebert of Rock Island will throw out the ceremonial first pitches.

TICKETS: Tickets for all events at John O'Donnell Stadium can be purchased by calling the Swing of the Quad Cities ticket office at (563) 328-2000, coming to the box office located at the stadium along South Gaines Street, or by logging on to www.swingbaseball.com.

UP NEXT: The Swing are in the midst of a 10-game road stretch that continues in South Bend (through Thursday) and West Michigan (Fri-Mon). They will return to the Quad Cities for a 10-game homestand starting on Tuesday, August 7. All Swing games feature a radio broadcast that can be heard on WKBF AM-1270 or online at www.swingbaseball.com, with the pre-game show starting 15 minutes prior to scheduled first pitch.
