COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps, in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers, announced today that RHP Jeff Gerbe is activated from the disabled list after missing more than a month of action and will start Wednesday night against the Peoria Chiefs at 7 p.m.

Gerbe started the season in the Whitecaps bullpen, but after going 1-0 with a 1.01 ERA in 26.2 innings, he was promoted to the starting rotation. The Shelby Township, Mich., native made four starts before going on the disabled list, posting a 1-0 record with a 1.57 ERA as a starter. His last outing came on June 22 at Dayton, where he limited the Dragons to two runs over 7.0 innings for a no-decision. Overall on the season, Gerbe is 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA with the Whitecaps.

The Michigan State product was promoted to Double-A Erie in early June to make a spot start and he went 6.0 innings with two runs allowed on June 9 vs. New Hampshire for a no-decision before returning to West Michigan.

The Whitecaps roster now is at the maximum 25 active players.
