Kerbashian Comes to Rush
January 24, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush announced their most recent trade in the ECHL Regular Season. Earlier today, forward Robin Soudek was traded to the Evansville IceMen in exchange for Kale Kerbashian, marking the second time this season both clubs have exchanged players.
"I am very excited to be coming to the Rush. There is so much passion behind the logo that I now get to wear on my new uniform," said Kerbashian on the trade to the Black Hills. "The crowd is awesome, the team is moving forward in their play, and I hope to provide that extra push as they fight for a playoff spot."
"Kale is a player we are very familiar with having seen him the last 2 season as a member of the CHL champion Allen Americans," said Rush General Manager and Head Coach Joe Ferras. "Kale is a highly skilled player with a very high hockey IQ. He has been a point per game player in both the regular season and play offs throughout his pro career."
Kerbashian comes to the Rush having played 37 games this season in the "Hoosier State", recording 9 goals along with 19 assists for 28 points. The 5'11", 200-pound forward leaves the IceMen roster as their second leading scorer in both the goal and point stat categories, and their leader in assists. Kerbashian was a part of the CHL's Allen Americans for the last two seasons, totaling 72 points (27 goals and 45 assists) in 85 games while winning back-to-back CHL Championships in Texas.
"I personally feel I bring a great mix of speed, skill, and physical play," added Kale on his contributions to the lineup. "I'll do whatever is asked of me by the coaching staff at the end of the day. All things said, I try to give the team I'm on an extra jump on the ice."
"Whenever you can add a player that knows what it takes to win championships it will always benefit your hockey club," Ferras continued. "We have been looking for a left shot forward that can play both the wing and the middle and Kale fits this perfectly."
A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Kerbashian, 24, enters his fourth season of professional hockey. His career started in the ECHL with the Greenville Road Warriors in the 2011-12 season, where he suited up 32 times in upstate South Carolina and recorded 15 points (8 goals, 7 assists). Prior to playing professionally, Kerbashian played 4 full seasons in the OHL with the London Knights, the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors, and the Sarnia Sting, racking up 207 points in 252 combined contests.
