IceMen Acquire Robin Soudek from Rapid City
January 24, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, have acquired forward Robin Soudek from the Rapid City Rush. In exchange the IceMen have sent Kale Kerbashian to Rapid City.
The Czech Republic born Soudek has potted 10 goals and passed out 11 assists this season in 29 games with the Rapid City Rush and Stockton Thunder. He posted a season best three points with a goal and two assists against Tulsa on Nov.14.
"The deal was made to try and improve our team," IceMen Head Coach Al Sims said. "We're trying to get younger, bigger, and faster if we can."
Soudek played his rookie season with the Denver Cutthroats where he lit the lamp 14 times in 41 games. The 23-year-old also played three games for the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL and scored one goal.
"He's 23-years-old so he's got a lot of upside to his game, and we look forward to seeing him play" Sims said.
Before turning pro, Soudek played four seasons in the WHL with Edmonton Oil Kings, Chilliwack Bruins, and Victoria Royals.
Kerbashian leaves Evansville with nine goals and a team-high 19 assists. He scored two goals in the IceMen's opening night victory over Gwinnett.
The Thunder Bay, ON native set a season best with three points ( 1 Goal, 2 Assists) against the Indy Fuel on Halloween Night. Kerbashian had a four-game point streak from Nov.11 to Nov. 21 with five assists over that span.
"Kale was a great kid," Sims said. "We loved him but sometimes you have to make moves and hopefully this is one that helps us."
Soudek is expected to play with the IceMen in tonight's game at Indy beginning at 7:35 p.m. Catch this game and every IceMen road game at Bar Louie, the Official Watch Party Destination of your IceMen.
