Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

ORLANDO, FL - For the second consecutive night, the Greenville Road Warriors (25-14-2), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, set a season high in shots (52) and battled back from a two-goal deficit in the third period, but suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Orlando Solar Bears (19-14-3) at the Amway Center.

Forward Trevor Parkes scored both goals for the Road Warriors, while Orlando netminder Garrett Sparks made a career-best 50 saves and set a Solar Bears single-game record for the second straight game.

Despite the loss, Greenville extended its unbeaten in regulation streak on the road to eight straight games (6-0-2) and its unbeaten in regulation streak overall to three straight (1-0-2).

For the second night in a row, Greenville came out firing in the first period and amassed 17 shots on target, but the Solar Bears earned a 2-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes. Marshall Everson opened the scoring at the 14:17 mark when he tipped Gleason Fournier's one-timer from the high slot past goaltender Jeff Malcolm for his seventh goal this season.

Less than four minutes later, Stefan Della Rovere was denied on an initial shot from the right side, but Malcolm slid out of position and left the net unoccupied. As the puck trickled behind the cage to the back door, Della Rovere bumped it home from the back post for his eighth goal of the season at the 17:42 mark.

The Road Warriors continued their theme of third-period domination this season with a pair of goals to draw the game even and force overtime for the second straight contest. Parkes cut the deficit to one at the 7:54 mark when he slipped a low shot under Sparks during a scramble in front generated by Chris McCarthy's shot from the perimeter. Parkes' goal, from McCarthy and Vinny Saponari, came on Greenville's 42nd shot of the game.

Parkes notched his second goal of the period at 10:18 with a power-play tally from Saponari and Sean Escobedo. With Nick Larson in the box for cross-checking, Parkes punched home this team-leading 14th of the season from the doorstep to even the game at 2-2.

In overtime, Jacob Cepis and the Solar Bears used their fourth and final power play to score the game-winner at the 2:54 mark. With Josh Nicholls in the box for tripping, Blake Kessel fed the puck to Cepis at the high slot, who ripped a shot through traffic and into the back of the net.

The game included one fight when Emerson Clark and Carl Nielson went toe-to-toe just 46 seconds into the second period.

The Road Warriors finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. Malcolm (15-8-1) made 28 saves, but suffered his second straight loss.

Greenville outshot Orlando 52-31.
