Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - Right-hander Casey Kelly set a team-high for innings pitched, going eight strong to lead the Dorados de Sacramento (17-15) to their fourth straight win in a 7-1 victory over Las Abejas de Salt Lake (20-12).
Las Abejas managed just one run on six hits facing Kelly, who logged his second consecutive quality outing and team-high third win. He struck out six and walked none, giving him just one free pass over his last 15 innings pitched.
Outfielder Austin Slater's two-run, opposite-field homer highlighted a three-run third inning for the Dorados, while designated hitter Chris Shaw launched a two-run opposite-field shot of his own in the team's four-run fourth inning. For Shaw, it was his team-leading ninth home run of the season, moving him into a tie for fourth in the Pacific Coast League.
Right-hander Jose Flores (0-2, 4.50) will be on the hill Wednesday afternoon for the River Cats to face Bees righty Felix Pena (0-0, 4.05). First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. (PT). Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on the air on Money 105.5 FM beginning at 7:00 p.m. (PT).
Additional Notes
- Austin Slater currently owns the longest active hitting streak on the club as he pushed his run to eight games with his third inning home run.
- The Dorados pitching staff tied their season-best by allowing just one run to Las Abejas on Tuesday night. They also held the Las Vegas 51s to one run back on May 1.
