Fresno Grizzlies News Release

The Fresno Grizzlies (20-13) put on a hitting clinic Tuesday night at Cashman Field, beating the Las Vegas 51s (12-21) 11-6. For the 11th time this season, Fresno plated double-digits and secured 18 hits in the process. Six starters recorded multi-hits with three cashing in multi-RBI. Fresno starter Mike Hauschild (no-decision) tossed four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits, six runs (four earned), walking seven and striking out five. Reliever Reymin Guduan (2-1) hurled two and one-third scoreless innings, yielding the win. Las Vegas starter Chris Flexen (2-3, loss) threw two innings and was tagged for eight runs (seven earned).

Tony Kemp (3-for-6) quickly gave the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a leadoff triple. After a throwing error on the play, he was granted home. The triple extended his team-high hitting streak to 14 games. It also put Kemp alone at second all-time in franchise triples, passing Fred Lewis. He needs one more three-bagger to tie Todd Linden, who has 20.

The 51s took a 2-1 advantage in the next half inning after two bases-loaded walks.

Fresno didn't waste much time, grabbing the lead back with six runs in the next half frame. Jon Kemmer (2-for-4) tied the game with a single to right, scoring J.D. Davis (3-for-4). After an error made it 3-2, Tyler White (2-for-3) roped home two more runs with a single to left. AJ Reed (4-for-6) followed White with another single, adding Kyle Tucker. Finally, Davis lasered the third-straight single to center, plating White. The single bumped his hit streak up to 11 games. After 11 batters, the Grizzlies had a 7-2 advantage.

Matthew den Dekker (2-for-5) cut the deficit to 7-3 in the bottom of the second when he mashed a solo shot to left. It was his sixth longball of the season.

Tim Federowicz (2-for-6) drove in the eighth Fresno run with a double off the center field wall in the top of the fourth.

Las Vegas inched within two runs in the bottom of the fifth. A sacrifice fly by former Grizzly Johnny Monell and a two RBI double by Phillip Evans (2-for-3) helped the cause.

Davis recorded another RBI when he doubled home White in the top of the sixth. His 10th double in 11 games made it 9-6. Kemp knocked in two more with a double in the top of the eighth, giving him a homer shy of the cycle. The 11-6 advantage was enough for James Hoyt, getting a ground out to end the game.

Fresno and Las Vegas are back at it Wednesday night for game two of the four-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PT from Cashman Field. RHP Rogelio Armenteros (1-0, 5.18) gets the ball for the Grizzlies, while the 51s counter with righty Vance Worley (0-1, 11.57).
