PAPILLION, NE - The Iowa Cubs (10-21) picked up their fifth-straight win with a 4-2 victory against the Omaha Storm Chasers (11-22), Wednesday at Werner Park. Alec Mills allowed two runs over 6.2 innings to carry the I-Cubs.

The I-Cubs were busy to start the game. Singles from Chesny Young and Efren Navarro made some noise in the first, but a 1-2-3 double play with the bases loaded ended the inning before Iowa could make a dent. Navarro later ripped a single down the first base line in the third to bring home Ryan Court from third for the first run of the game.

Omaha knotted the game with a run of its own in the third on a sacrifice fly from Jack Lopez, but the I-Cubs quickly got back in front. They used some opposite-field hitting to knock in two runs in the fourth inning. Ali Solis sliced a double into the right field corner, scoring Jacob Hannemann from first base. Court also joined the opposite field fun, lining a single to right to bring in Solis and give Iowa the 3-1 edge.

Cam Gallagher would bring in another for the Storm Chasers in the bottom of the fourth, but that would be all for Omaha's offense. Solis collected his second RBI of the game in the eighth as Iowa added an insurance run. Solis was 3-for-4 on the day.

Mills (1-4) tabbed his third quality start of the season and grabbed his first victory. He tied his season best with seven strikeouts, while allowing seven hits and walking two through 6.2 innings. Shae Simmons and Cory Mazzoni collaborated for a scoreless relief effort. Mazzoni snagged his first save of the season with 1.2 innings of work.

The I-Cubs look to extend their winning streak with a 6:35 p.m. game against the Storm Chasers tomorrow at Werner Park. Catch the action on AM 940, www.iowacubs.com or MiLB.TV.
