Indianapolis Indians News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY - Jung Ho Kang tied a career high with the second four-hit game of his stateside career, but the Indians couldn't overcome an early 5-0 deficit in a 7-6 loss to Louisville on Tuesday night. Steven Baron also matched a career high with three runs scored.

The Indians (32-23) found themselves in a 5-0 hole just two innings into the ballgame. Brian O'Grady took Dario Agrazal deep for his 15th home run in the first, a two-run shot to right-center, and the Bats (24-34) tacked on three runs in their next trip to the plate. Christian Colon smacked a two-out, two-run single to left and O'Grady followed with an RBI knock.

Down by five, the Tribe chipped away with single runs in the third and fifth to close the gap to 5-2. Kang dumped a single into shallow center field with two away to plate Baron and two innings later, the duo was at it again. Kang provided Indy its second run with a ringing double off the left-field wall to score Baron.

Three straight reached against Agrazal in the bottom of the fifth, however, extending Louisville's advantage back to five. Scott Schebler delivered the big blow with a two-run double into the right-field corner.

After going quietly in the sixth, the Tribe offense erupted for four runs on four hits in the seventh. Corey Dickerson and Jason Martin sandwiched sacrifice flies around RBI singles from Kang and Will Craig.

Indy had another chance to tie the game in the eighth with runners at the corners and two away, but Kang flew out to right to end the threat.

Ian Krol (S, 1) pitched around a leadoff single by Craig in the ninth for the save. Brad Markey (W, 1-0) won in his Reds organization debut with 6.0 innings of two-run ball. Agrazal (L, 3-2) suffered the loss after yielding a season-high seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in 5.0 innings of work.

Kang's only other four-hit performance in the United States came with High-A Bradenton in a rehab appearance on June 4, 2018.

Sean Keselica and Michael Feliz combined for seven strikeouts in 3.0 scoreless innings of relief. Feliz's five punchouts marked his most in an outing since July 26, 2017 with the Astros.

The Indians and Bats play the rubber game of their three-game set on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET. Luis Escobar (0-0, 2.51) will oppose Keury Mella (4-4, 4.71).
