
Mud Hens Hit Five Home Runs to Beat Clippers

Toledo extends its win streak to three games as Victor Reyes finished with two homers while Daz Cameron, Dustin Peterson and Daniel Pinero each had one.
Reyes also went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs.
Seven Mud Hens batters hit safely with Danny Woodrow, Peterson and Pinero earning multi-hit outings.
Toledo is now 6-6 in the season-series against Columbus and 12-16 against International League West Division opponents.
Two home runs from Reyes and Cameron, as well as an RBI single to left for Jake Rogers, brought the Mud Hens to an early five-run lead in the first.
Columbus starter Asher Wojciechowski loaded the bases before the first out was called on Pinero at third base.
Wojciechowski came into his 11th start of the year tied with two others for most wins (5) among active IL pitchers.
His last start against the Mud Hens came on May 2 where he took the loss on three earned runs allowed.
Cameron, the 2015 Houston Astros draft pick, leads Toledo in home runs (7), grabbing his first in 10 days.
The Clippers got an RBI single to center from Bobby Bradley to cut the deficit off Mud Hens starter Spenser Watkins in the first.
Watkins would pitch six innings to earn the win, giving up seven hits and one run, striking out six and walking two.
In his seventh game played with the Mud Hens this season, Pinero recorded the third of five team homers with two outs and no runners on in the second.
Pinero has notched four RBIs in the last three games, including two in Monday's 12-5 win at Columbus.
It's also the Toronto, Ontario, Canada native's second home run since coming over from Double-A Erie on May 29.
The first-of-two errors committed by Toledo came in the second when Jake Rogers' pickoff attempt to first went past Peterson into right to advance the runners.
With two outs and both runners in scoring position, Watkins was able to get Daniel Johnson to ground out to the mound before a run could be scored.
Reyes made it a 7-1 difference in the third with his second home run of the game and sixth of the season.
The Venezuelan-born outfielder is tied with Mikie Mahtook for second among active Toledo batters in homers through the early half of June.
In 605 career minor league games and 102 at the major league level, Reyes had yet to registered a multi-homer performance prior to Tuesday.
Wojciechowski left after surrendering his fifth home run to Peterson that ricocheted off the right field scorebaord for the 8-1 socre.
Peterson, the 2013 San Diego Padres second-round draft pick, has hit safely in five of his last six games played.
The Mud Hens extended their lead to 10 in the sixth with Willi Castro and Reyes both singling to shallow center for three runs.
Castro entered Tuesday possessing the third-highest hit total (65) and fourth-highest batting average (.339) in the International League.
Eduardo Jimenez, Ethan DeCaster finished out the seventh and eighth innings in relief for Toledo, combining for one hit, one earned run and two strikeouts.
In the ninth, Columbus scored three runs off Caleb Thielbar, who left with one out for newly acquired free agent Carlos Torres. The nine-year MLB veteran ended the threat by pitching into a ground ball double play.
What's Next:
Tyler Alexander (1-7, 7.74 ERA) is probable to start Wednesday in the final of a three-game series against the Clippers.
Opening pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (EST).

Hens Notes:
- As of Thursday, Willi Castro and Mikie Mahtook have cracked the top-five in the Triple-A All-Star Game Online Balloting. Castro and Mahtook are both in fourth place at shortstop and designated hitter, respectively.
- Kyle Funkhouser was activated from the Injured List prior to Tuesday's game and was sent to Lakeland while Thielbar was reinstated from the temporary inactive list.
- Pete Kozma was also placed on the Injured List after being removed from the starting lineup Monday.
