The Kalamazoo Wings started their week on Wednesday (12/7) at home against the Flint Generals. The K-Wings received goals from Nick Bootland (11), Jason Deitsch (8), Josh Elzinga (2) and Todd Grant (2) in the 4-0 victory. Goaltender Joel Martin shut the door on the Generals stopping all 22 shots he faced to earn his UHL leading 3rd shutout of the season. The victory extended the K-Wings home winning streak to nine games, which is the longest in the league.

On Friday (12/9), the K-Wings hit the road for their first of two consecutive games against the Missouri River Otters. Despite being down 3-0 to the Otters, the K-Wings answered back with three goals of their own, including the tying goal from Joe Seroski (15) with 43 seconds remaining in the game. The game headed into a shootout and in the extra session, Missouri's Brad Church scored the shootouts lone goal to lead Missouri past Kalamazoo 4-3.

The K-Wings and the River Otters met again on Saturday (12/10). In the first period, it was Kalamazoo power play unit that did the most damage against Missouri. Both Joe Seroski (16) and Kory Karlander (9) scored on the man advantage to give the K-Wings a 2-1 lead heading into the second period. Kalamazoo's Mike Manley (8) extended the lead to 3-1 after scoring his league leading 5th shorthanded goal of the year. Missouri battled back scoring three unanswered goals, including two in the final period to give the Otters a 4-3 victory over the K-Wings.

Fast Forward

The K-Wings will hit the ice three times this week. Kalamazoo starts the week on Friday (12/16), as they host the Quad City Mallards on B & G Discount Night at 7:30 p.m.. The K-Wings are 1-0-0 against the Mallards this season. Kalamazoo defeated Quad City 5-3 at Wings Stadium on November 20th. The Mallards start the week in second place in the Western Division.

Kalamazoo will remain at home on Saturday (12/17), as they host the Adirondack Frostbite during the 6th Annual WOTV, WKFR Teddy Bear Toss. Besides the Teddy Bear Toss, television hockey analyst Barry Melrose and sports anchor Steve Levy will also be attending the 7:30 p.m. game. The K-Wings are 1-0-0 against the Frostbite this season. Adirondack starts the week atop of the Eastern Division.

The K-Wings will conclude the week on Sunday (12/18) with a divisional road game against the Port Huron Flags. Kalamazoo is 2-0-0 against the Flags this season, which includes a 6-1 victory at the McMorran Place Arena back on October 22nd. The Flags are currently in fourth place in the Central Division.

Record Tying Performance
Kalamazoo's Mike Manley has scored five shorthanded goals this season. The five shorthanded goals not only leads the league, it also ties the franchises UHL record for most shorthanded goals in a season, originally set during the 2002-03 season by Peter Roed.

Close to 400
Head Coach Mark Reeds is close to reaching a personal milestone. Reeds needs three more wins to reach 400 for his career.

The Obscure Stat of the Week
Opponents of the K-Wings have had problems stopping Kalamazoo from getting shots on goal. The K-Wings, who lead the league in shots on goal average at 35.6 shots a game, have been held to under 30 shots only three times this season.
