
Trashers making a run in the East

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO --- The Danbury Trashers have made a charge up the standings in the Eastern Division. The team is currently on a six-game winning streak and their 9-1-0 record in the last ten games is the best mark of any United Hockey League (UHL) team during that stretch. Three of their last nine wins have come against the Eastern Division leading Adirondack Frostbite, including back-to-back wins vs. the Frostbite during the weekend. Friday's victory was a 3-0 shutout. Danbury is currently 5-0-0 this season vs. their division rival and now just five points behind Adirondack in the Eastern Division standings.
The Trashers have used a balanced offensive attack this season as they currently list no player among the top 25 UHL scorers. During their six-game win streak, Danbury has received goals from ten different players and as a team, they have a plus-61 rating in those contests.
Defensively, the Trashers have allowed just 18 goals in their last ten games (1.80 GAA). The goaltending duo of Sylvain Daigle (1.74) and Jayme Platt (1.91) both have a goals against average under 2.00 during the last ten games and have combined for a .935 save percentage (SPCT).
Danbury also has been one of the best road teams this season as they have a 7-2-1 mark away from home ice.
NEW WINS LEADER - Danbury Trashers goaltender Sylvain Daigle recorded his 166th UHL victory in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win vs. Adirondack. He surpasses Joe Dimaline (165) for first place on the all-time wins list for UHL goaltenders. In 285 career UHL games, Daigle has a 166-87-26 record.
MOVING UP- With an assist in the first period on Sunday, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard moved into third place on the UHL all-time points list, surpassing Kevin Kerr (901). Bouchard currently has 903 (455g, 448a) UHL points and is seven assists shy of Brian Sakic (455) for third place in UHL career assists.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
Adirondack Frostbite - (0-1-1) - Adirondack has killed off 23 straight opponent power plays and 44 of the last 46 opportunities (95.7%). They currently lead the UHL in penalty killing (89.1%)...The Frostbite are third in the league in both goals for per game (3.75) and goals against per game (2.83)...Left wing Hugo Belanger has 13 points (5g, 8a) in his last ten games...Adirondack is just one of three teams that has outscored its opponents overall in each period this season...Right wing Kevin Watters is second among UHL rookies with 28 points (15g, 13a).
Danbury Trashers - (4-0-0) - Danbury is 4-5-1 when trailing after two periods of play. No other UHL team has more than two wins this season when trailing after the second period...Either Drew or Mike Omicioli have scored the game-winning in seven of the 14 Trashers wins this season. The brothers have combined for 17 points in the last five games...Drew Omicioli is riding a six-game goal streak...Jean-Michel Daoust has four points (2g, 2a) and a plus-6 rating during his last five games.
Elmira Jackals - (2-2-0) - The Jackals snapped a ten-game winless streak on Saturday by defeating Roanoke 4-3 in a shootout...Elmira scored nine goals in 28 power play opportunities during the week (32.1%)...The Jackals had just two minor penalties on Friday vs. Richmond, however continue to lead the UHL with 224 minor penalties. Defensemen Trevor Burgess and Chris Mann have accounted for 58 of those minors...Rookie forward Chris Chaput is riding a nine-game home point streak. He also has become the team leader in points (8g, 16a).
Flint Generals - (1-2-0) - The Generals scored just four goals in regulation during their three-game week. Center Terry Marchant had two of the four goals...Flint was 1 of 18 on the power play during the week...The Generals rank last in the UHL in road power play (7.6%), but rank first in road penalty kill (90.7%)...Flint is 7-0-0 when leading after two periods...Flint snapped their four-game winless streak in Sunday's 4-3 shootout win vs. Port Huron.
Fort Wayne Komets - (3-1-0) - The Komets were awarded their first ever UHL penalty shot on the road Wednesday vs. Elmira. Left wing Matt Hunter scored vs. Elmira goaltender Ryan McIntosh on the shot in the second period...Greg Puhalski coached his 400th regular season Komets game in Friday's 3-1 win vs. Roanoke... Right wing Jonathan Goodwin skated in his 100th professional game on Friday...Right wing David Carpentier has a three-game goal streak...Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre has a three-game win streak.
Kalamazoo Wings - (1-1-1) - Mark Reeds is three wins shy of 400 for his coaching career...Center Mike Manley has five shorthanded goals this season which ties a K-Wings UHL record for the most in one season...Center Kory Karlander is on a four-game point streak...Right wing Joe Seroski is tied for third in goals in the UHL (16) and tied for second in power play goals (9)...Kalamazoo has three of the top four in league plus/minus; Greg Labenski +23, Nick Bootland +18, Tyler Renette +18...Kalamazoo has played ten of their last 13 on the road.
Missouri River Otters - (2-0-0) - After being winless in their first eight attempts (0-7-1), the River Otters have now won four straight games at home...Left wing Jim Duhart has scored in each of his first four games with the team. He has nine points (4g, 5a) and collected his 900th career point on Friday night...Missouri collected back-to-back wins vs. Kalamazoo during the weekend...Goaltender Kevin Reiter is 4-0-0 in his last four games with a 2.75 GAA and a .910 SPCT. He has also won his last two shootouts, stopping all nine shooters he has faced.
Motor City Mechanics - (2-0-0) - Center Adam Edinger had a four-goal game in the 7-2 win vs. Muskegon on Friday. It is the first four-goal by an individual player in team history and the second in the UHL this season.... Edinger's eight-game goal streak was snapped on Saturday vs. Quad City. It was the longest streak in the league this season...Defenseman Kevin Hansen skated in his 200th professional game on Friday...Center Peter Szabo has a six-game point streak...Center Brent Gretzky has an eight-game assist streak.
Muskegon Fury - (2-1-1) - The Fury have claimed the best record in the league at 18-2-2 (.864 win percentage)... Muskegon remains unbeaten in regulation on the road (9-0-1)...The Fury are 9-0-0 vs. Western Division opponents...The team is undefeated (10-0-0) when scoring the first goal of the game...Muskegon is the only UHL team without a shootout victory this season. They have lost both shootout contests they have played...Rookie Kevin LaPointe (8-0-2) is the lone goaltender in the UHL without a loss in regulation this season.
Port Huron Flags - (1-1-2) - Left wing Vin Hellemeyer notched his first goal of the season in the second period on Friday vs. Rockford. He then added his second goal of the season in the third period...Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to Flint marked the fifth consecutive game that the Flags have gone to the shootout. They have won three of the five shootouts during that stretch...Port Huron has participated in the most shootouts in the UHL this season (10) and is 6-4 in those contests.
Quad City Mallards - (1-1-0) - Defenseman Andrei Lupandin played in his 400th career game on Saturday in Motor City...Forward Chad Woollard is one point shy of 300 for his professional career...Forward Evgeny Lazarev (3g, 1a) had a part in each of the Mallards' four goals during the two-game weekend. He also recorded the "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" on Saturday as he tallied a goal, an assist, and a fighting major...Quad City is currently two games into a six-game stretch of contests played in the state of Michigan.
Richmond RiverDogs - (1-2-0) - Robbie S. Nichols is two wins shy of 300 career UHL coaching victories...Center Mike Oliveira had two shorthanded goals during the week...Defenseman Dan Vandermeer tallied a team season high four assists in Friday's 7-4 victory vs. Elmira. It was his second four-point night of the season...Richmond out-shot Elmira 33-28 on Sunday. It was the first time this season the RiverDogs have out-shot an opponent. One other time this season (11/19 vs. Elmira), Richmond equaled their opponents in shots (28).
Roanoke Valley Vipers - (0-2-1) - Rookie winger Louis-Phillippe Martin tallied five goals during the three-game week. He is riding a four-game goal streak and is second among UHL rookies in assists (14)...Roanoke has been without the services of right wing Mark Scott who has been on injured reserve the last few games. Scott has 17 points (7g, 10a) in 15 games played this season...The Vipers are on a seven-game winless streak (0-4-3).
Rockford IceHogs - (1-1-0) - Rockford has held their opponents to 0 of 18 on the power play during the last three games, including Muskegon to 0 of 8 on Saturday. Muskegon had come into the contest with a league leading 35.2% mark in power play opportunities on the road...The IceHogs lead the UHL in home penalty kill (89.7%)...Winger Jason Notermann had his five-game point streak snapped on Saturday...Rockford has the most home wins in the league (11)...Goaltender Ronnie Vogel has a team record 12-game unbeaten streak (11-0-1).
