Trashers Streak Extends to Six--Within Five Points of 1st Place

DANBURY, CT- The Danbury Trashers, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL), completed their latest week of play with four straight wins, as they extended their winning streak to a season-high six.

With wins over Roanoke, Adirondack (twice) and Fort Wayne, the Trashers wrapped up the week just five points away from the first place Frostbite. In a strange scheduling quirk, Danbury will play the Roanoke Valley Vipers four straight times, in Danbury on Wednesday and Friday and in Roanoke on Saturday and Sunday.

SYLVAIN DAIGLE SETS UHL WINS RECORD BY A GOALTENDER

Sly Daigle became the all-time leader in UHL wins by a goaltender as he grabbed his 166th following Danbury's 3-2 shootout win over the Frostbite last Saturday. Daigle surpassed Joe Dimaline, who won 165 games for Muskegon and Quad City from 1997-2003. Daigle, currently in his 10th professional season is in his first year with the Trashers after five seasons with Muskegon, where he won three Colonial Cups with the Fury

TRASHERS RALLY LATE TO WIN 6TH STRAIGHT GAME--SKATE WITH THE PLAYERS NIGHT A HUGE SUCCESS December 11, 2005

DANBURY, CT--Drew Omicioli's power-play goal at the 12:56 mark of the third period snapped a 1-1 tie as Danbury defeated the Ft. Wayne Komets 2-1 before 2,425 on Sunday night at the Danbury Ice Arena. The win is Danbury's 6th straight and closes them to within five points of first place in the UHL East Division. The night also marked the second annual Holiday Skate With the Players, as fans joined the Trashers on ice after the game to celebrate the holidays at the Danbury Ice Arena.

J.M. Daoust netted his 4th goal as he scored just 10 seconds into the opening period for the only goal until Ft. Wayne's game-tying tally at the 13:37 mark of the second. David Carpentier knocked in a rebound past Jayme Platt to tie the score.

Drew Omicioli's goal came with the Trashers on a 5 on 3 power play, assisted by Fred Belanger and Alex Goupil after David Hukalo went off for Holding, followed by a bench minor for too many men on the ice.

Platt stopped 24 of 25 shots to pick up his 3rd Trashers win, while Kevin Kurk dropped to 0-2-0 following a 20 save effort. The Trashers improved to 14-7-2 with the victory.

Following the game all fans were invited to skate with the players as the Trashers celebrated their win. Dunkin Donuts was on hand as they provided free coffee, Munchkins and hot chocolate to all who stayed.

DAIGLE STOPS 'BITE IN SHOOTOUT TO RECORD UHL RECORD 166TH WIN December 10, 2005

GLENS FALLS, NY--Sly Daigle became the all-time UHL wins leader as he stopped five of six Frostbite players in the shootout on Saturday night as Danbury came from behind to top Adirondack 3-2. The win, Daigle's 166th, eclipsed Joe Dimaline's 165 that he set during his years in the United Hockey League.

Danbury and the Frostbite engaged in a hard fought first period for the second straight game, but Drew Omicioli's 11th of the season gave the Trashers a 1-0 lead after the first. The goal was scored at the 19:03 mark and assisted by Mike Omicioli.

However, the Frostbite dominated the second period as they outshot Danbury 18-8. Adirondack's goals came from Kevin Watters from Hugo Belanger on a breakaway at the 9:48 mark, followed by a Belanger power-play goal at the 11:52 mark.

J.M. Daoust tied the score on his 3rd goal of the season at the 6:50 mark from Jeff Daw, who redeemed himself after he took the penalty that led to Adirondack's second goal.

In the shootout, Watters scored in the opening round on Daigle, while Fred Belanger tied the shootout at 1-1 in the 3rd round. After Hugo Belanger missed in the 5th round, Danbury's Shawn Collymore tallied the game winner as he deked Derek Gustafson to give him an open net. Blue Bennefield missed on Adirondack's last try.

The win improved Danbury's record to 13-7-2 for 28 points, seven behind the Frostbite, as they fell to 17-6-1 this season. Daigle stopped 35 shots while Gustafson saved 28 for Adirondack.

TRASHERS BLANK FROSTBITE 3-0 FOR 4TH STRAIGHT WIN--DAIGLE TIES UHL WINS MARK December 9, 2005

GLENS FALLS, NY--Sly Daigle tied Joe Dimaline for the most wins in UHL history with his 165th as his 35 save effort led the Trashers to a 3-0 blanking of the Adirondack Frostbite in front of 2,127 at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Friday night.

Following a scoreless first period highlighted by a pair of fights between Blue Bennefield and Carlyle Lewis, the Trashers netted their first at the 14:01 mark of the second period as Drew Omicioli scored his 10th of the season from Mike Omicioli and Shawn Collymore. Prior to the goal, Lewis was assessed a game misconduct for a major charging penalty at the 8:20 mark, his 3rd major penalty in the game.

Alex Goupil opened the scoring in the 3rd period as he netted a shorthanded goal past Kris Tebbs at the 5:10 mark after he knocked in a rebound of his own initial shot. Jeff Daw assisted on the goal.

Daw ended up scoring the Trashers final goal as He went around Tebbs and shot into an empty net at the 14:45 mark, assisted by Goupil.

Danbury won their fourth straight game and improved their mark to 12-7-2 to close to within eight points of the Frostbite with two games in hand. The shutout was his first of the season and 13th as a professional. Tebbs stopped 29 of 32 shots in the loss for Adirondack, who have dropped two straight for just the first time this season.

TRASHERS OVERCOME THREE GOAL DEFICIT TO TOP ROANOKE 5-4 December 7, 2005

ROANOKE, VA-For the second time in less than a week, the Danbury Trashers overcame a 3rd period deficit to defeat Roanoke. In the first ever road contest for Danbury at the Roanoke Civic Center, the Trashers defeated the Vipers 5-4 before a crowd of 563 on Wednesday night.

Danbury fell behind 3-0 after the first period as David Beauregard and L.P. Martin each scored for the Vipers, as starting goaltender Jayme Platt stopped only eight of 10 shots faced in the period.

The Vipers scored quickly to start the second period as Gray Shaneberger's first of the year was created off a turnover just 29 seconds into the period. Danbury would finally score on the first of two David Hymovitz goals at the 8:24 mark of the period. Roanoke would regain a three-goal advantage as Martin netted his second of the night at the 17:03 mark. Hymovitz then closed the period with his second of the night at the 18:53 mark.

Danbury switched goaltenders in the third period and went to Sly Daigle, who stopped all eight Roanoke shots to earn the win. The Trashers then wore down Roanoke with a trio of goals from J.M. Daoust, Drew Omicioli and the game-winner by Mike Omicioli at the 14:47 mark of the period.

TRASHERS TIDBITS

DREW SCORES-TRASHERS WIN Drew Omicioli's goal scoring streak has coincided with the Trashers current six game stretch. The West Warwick, RI native has a goal in six straight games, including two game-winning goals.

COMEBACK KIDS Coming from behind has become old hat to the Trashers, who currently hold an amazing 4-5-1 record when trailing after two periods. No other team in the UHL has more than two wins this season when trailing after the second period. Danbury was just 2-25-2 when trailing after two periods last season.

OMICIOLI SPELLS "GAME-WINNER" Drew and Mike Omicioli have scored the game-winning goal in seven of the Trashers 14 wins this season. Drew is currently second in the league with five game-winners, one behind Muskegon's David Wrigley. The brothers have also combined for 17 points on eight goals in their last five games.

NO "DAOUST-ING" JEAN-MICHEL'S ABILITY

Following a stretch of games as a healthy scratch, Jean-Michel Daoust has injected himself into the Trashers lineup as a worthy threat. Over the last five games, Daoust has four points on two goals with a +6 rating.
