
K-Zoo defeats Trashers 2-1 to take 3-1 Colonial Cup finals lead

DANBURY, CT--Tyler Rennette's power play goal at 19:25 of the second period proved to be the game winner as the Kalamazoo Wings edged Danbury 2-1 before a sold out crowd of 3,005 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Friday night to take a 3-1 lead in the Colonial Cup Finals.
Mike Manley's goal at the 14:16 mark was the lone tally of the first as the Wings led 1-0 after the opening period, as Sly Daigle kept the Trashers in the contest with 17 first period saves and 41 in the game.
Shawn Collymore scored for the second straight night as he backhanded Danbury's lone goal past Martin at the 8:15 mark, but Rennette's power play goal with 35 seconds left in the period was the game winner.
Joel Martin stopped 35 of 36 Danbury shots for his 11th postseason win, while Daigle takes the loss after his 41 save night. Game five is on Saturday May 27th at 7:30pm. Games six and seven in Kalamazoo if needed will be on May 30th and 31st at 7:00pm. The first 1,000 on Saturday will get a Trashers playoff rally towel courtesy of the Danbury Ice Arena.
