Danbury Trashers News Release
DANBURY, CT-The Danbury Trashers, proud members of the United Hockey League (UHL) have participated in Tuesday's UHL Dispersal Draft as they acquired the rights to a handful of players.
With the Motor City Mechanics, Missouri River Otters and Roanoke Valley Vipers all closing up shop for the 2006-07 season, the rights to the players on those rosters were distributed around the league on Tuesday morning. Danbury returned some familiar faces to the fold as they picked up defenseman Eric Lind from Missouri with their initial selection and forward John Osborne from Roanoke with their second pick. Each skated for the Trashers during the 2005-06 season.
Danbury's 3rd round selection was Greg Bullock from the Motor City Mechanics. The veteran center scored 58 points on 18 goals in 59 games last season, his first in the UHL. The 33-year-old from Cambridge, Ontario has played 11 seasons in a variety of stops including the AHL, IHL, CHL, ECHL, WCHL and overseas in Germany, Italy and England.
Former Missouri River Otter Tim Krueckl was Danbury's final selection, picked in the fourth round. The 6-3, 205lb forward from Claresholm, Alberta was limited to just 12 games between the Otters and Kalamazoo last season and finished with five points on a pair of goals. He played his collegiate hockey at nearby Iona College in New Rochelle, NY and finished at Lake Superior State before turning professional.
The UHL also conducted an expansion draft for the Bloomington Prairie Thunder, scheduled to start play this fall at the U.S. Cellular Center in Bloomington, Illinois. The Trashers lost goaltender Jamie Platt, whose rights were selected in the third round. The Prairie Thunder selected the rights to three other goaltenders, as each club lost one player to the newest UHL franchise.
Season tickets for the 2006-07 season are now on sale starting at just $494 for 38 home games. Perks include invitations to private season ticket holder events, Scrappy's ticket recycle plan, first rights on playoff tickets and much more. The Trashers are Danbury's first and only professional sports franchise. For more information, visit DanburyTrashers.com.
