
Chicago Hounds Announce Greg Puhalski as Head Coach for Inaugural Season

Hoffman Estates, Ill. (June 7, 2006) -- Chicagoland Sports, LLC is extremely excited to introduce Greg Puhalski as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Chicago Hounds. Eric Margenau, CEO/Chairman of Chicagoland Sports, LLC made the announcement.
Puhalski is the all-time United Hockey League leader in career victories and brings over ten years of coaching experience to the Hounds. During his hockey career, Puhalski has enjoyed many accomplishments including numerous championships and awards both as a player and a head coach.
Puhalski joins the Chicago Hounds after spending six years with the UHL competitor Fort Wayne Komets. Posting winning records each season, Puhalski led the Komets to their first UHL regular season championship and Tarry Cup in 2002-03 while also earning the UHL Coach of the Year Award. He then led the team to an 11-1 post-season record and the coveted UHL Colonial Cup Championship.
The following two seasons, Puhalski also demonstrated his ability to win earning a 2nd consecutive Tarry Cup Championship and posting his 3rd consecutive and 4th overall Division Title while also appearing in the Colonial Cup Finals.
Prior to Puhalski's time at the Komets, he spent four seasons as Head Coach for the East Coast Hockey team the Toledo Storm and posted a .638 winning percentage and 1995-1996 divisional title. Immediately following, Puhalski joined the Port Huron Border Cats of the UHL and posted back to back winning seasons until joining the Komets in 2000.
"Our search for a Head Coach focused on finding someone who has not only coached in the United Hockey League, but has enjoyed success in their tenure," said Hounds owner Margenau. "Greg has proved to be a leader in his field and we are extremely pleased and thrilled to have him onboard."
As the first Head Coach of the Hounds, Puhalski states, "I'm very excited to be a part of the Hounds organization and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. I'd also like to thank Michael and David Franke and the Komet organization for their generosity and support over the past six years."
The Hounds will be playing in the all new Sears Centre located in Hoffman Estates, IL. The newest UHL team will begin play in October 2006 with their inaugural home game coming in November at the Sears Centre.
The Sears Centre is an 11,000-seat state of the art multi-purpose family entertainment, sports and cultural center under construction in Hoffman Estates' Prairie Stone Business Park. Located right at I-90 and Route 59, it will host more than 135 events each year, and is projected to attract more than 750,000 annual visitors.
