Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets announced Wednesday that Greg Puhalski has resigned his position as the Komet's Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel.

Puhalski announced that he has accepted the head coaching position with the Chicago Hounds, a new UHL franchise for the upcoming 2006-07 season located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Puhalski, 41, has spent the last 6 seasons behind the Komet bench, a Fort Wayne franchise record for most consecutive seasons as the Komet's coach, since joining the Komets for the 2000-01 season. "In 6 years Greg brought us a league championship, 2 Tarry Cups and 4 divisional championships. We owe him a lot for helping us get on the map in the UHL over the past 6 years," said Komet President Michael Franke. "We thank Greg and wish him all the luck in the world."

In addition to the 2 regular season titles and the Colonial Cup Championship in 2003, Puhalski was named a UHL All-Star head coach in 2005. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native is currently the winningest coach in the UHL with 359 career wins including 271 wins during his tenure with Fort Wayne. Prior to his arrival in Fort Wayne, Puhalski coached 2 UHL seasons in Port Huron during 1998-99 and 1999-00.
