Karlander's two-goal night lifts Kalamazoo to 2-1 series lead

DANBURY, CT--Kory Karlander netted a pair of goals, while Joel Martin saved 21 of 23 shots on Wednesday night as the Kalamazoo Wings regained the Colonial Cup series lead following a 3-2 win over the Trashers in game three before 2,737 at the Danbury Ice Arena.

A tightly contested opening period broke open as Karlander's first goal was a rebound shot past Sly Daigle at the 13:00 mark for the only goal of the first period. He added his second from Nick Bootland at 5:37 of the second period.

Danbury finally showed some offensive life as Shawn Collymore's power play goal from David Beauregard and Mike Omicioli put the Trashers on the board at the 12:48 mark.

The Wings regained their two-goal lead with Dustin Virag's goal at the 3:18 mark of the third. The Trashers closed the gap on the power play and with an extra attacker with David Hymovitz scoring his 9th of the postseason at the 19:10 mark. Kalamazoo leads the Colonial Cup Finals 2-1.

Daigle stopped 34 of 37 shots in putting forth another exception effort despite the loss.Game four is on Friday May 26th at 7:30 and game five is on Saturday May 27th if necessary at 7:30pm. Games six and seven in Kalamazoo if needed will be on May 30th and 31st at 7:00pm. The first 1,000 on Saturday will get a Trashers playoff rally towel courtesy of the Danbury Ice Arena, while patrons of Ciao and Two Steps in City Center Danbury on Thursday will receive one free ticket for every $25.00 spent (while supplies last).
