December 12, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Motor City Mechanics News Release

- 12/9: HISTORICAL NIGHT IN MUSKEGON AS THE MECHANICS FINALLY BREAK THROUGH BEHIND A NEW FRANCHISE MARK FROM ADAM EDINGER!

It was the Adam Edinger show Friday night in Muskegon as the big Center from

Toledo, Ohio tallied four goals. The four goals set a new Mechanics record as no one in franchise history has accomplished that feat. Many players have notched the hat-trick but no one has notched the GOLDEN HAT TRICK, until now!! The last Mechanic to score the hat-trick was Jeff Doyle on March 19th vs. Richmond.

Edingers' journey began when at 15:59 of the first period he tallied his 13th goal of the season on the extra man advantage. Less than two minutes later Edinger notched his 14th goal. Edinger would score again just 4:47 into the third, giving him the Hat-trick, and his 15th goal, and then again at 14:48 giving him the GOLDEN HAT TRICK, and finishing the night with 16 goals on the season. The four goals marked the 8th straight game Edinger has scored making it the longest streak in the UHL this season. Matt Smith and Brent Gretzky had outstanding nights as each tallied 3 assists,

2 of Smith's assists came on the power play.

The Mechanics as a team however, broke through the mental roadblock of the Fury as they won their second game in franchise history overall against the Fury and their first at L.C. Walker Arena in four tries.

- Kevin Hansen played in his 200th professional game against the Fury.

- 12/10: MORE THAN 700 TEDDY BEARS WERE TOSSED IN THE SECOND ANNUAL TEDDY BEAR TOSS, MECHANICS TIE A FRANCHISE RECORD FOR WINNING AT HOME

Less than two minutes into the game Greg Bullock scored his 5th goal of the season and the teddy bears came flying from all areas of the rink. More than 700 teddy bears were collected for the Toys For Tots organization. Following the short delay from the bear cleanup, play resumed and the period ended with the Mechanics leading 1-0. During the second period of hockey the Mechanics would capitalize on not one, but two shorthanded opportunities. Mike Burgoyne scored just two minutes into the second and Scott Dobben fired a sweet backhanded shot to the top corner to make it 3-0 Mechanics. The Mallards tried to make a comeback as they would tally two goals in the third but it was not enough as the Mechanics tightened up defensively and held off the Mallard attacks.

Rod Branch made his 12th consecutive start and earned his 12th win of the season making 19 saves. His 12th win makes him the UHL leader in wins and the 19 saves makes him the UHL leader in saves with 516.

- "Mad Mel" made his return to the "Garage." Mel Angelstad played with the Thunder Bay Thunder Hawks and Senators back in the old CoHL days.

- With the 12th win of the season the Mechanics tied a franchise mark of winning at home, as they won their 5th straight game at the "Garage." Last season the Mechanics won five straight starting on March 30th through April 6th.

- Burgoyne's goal was his 6th of the season setting a new career high.

- Dobben's goal was his 10th professional goal.

- Edinger was held without a goal ending his impressive streak of 8 games with a goal.
