Danbury Trashers News Release

DANBURY, CT-The United Hockey League (UHL) announced on Monday that Danbury Trashers goaltender Sylvain Daigle was named the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending on December 11, 2005. This is the second time in three weeks that Daigle was honored with the award.

Daigle finished the week with a perfect 3-0-0 record, a 0.86 goals against average and a .975 save percentage as he scored a win over Roanoke and a pair of wins over Adirondack, including a 3-0 shutout on December 9th.

On December 7th, Daigle entered the Trashers/Roanoke game in the 3rd period and helped Danbury come from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4 as he stopped all eight shots faced. Two nights later, Daigle's 35-save effort gave the Trashers a 3-0 win over Adirondack in Glens Falls. The win was Daigle's 165th and tied Joe Dimaline for the most in league history.

Sly became the all-time UHL leader in wins the following night when Danbury defeated Adirondack 3-2. Another 35-save effort was followed by stopping five of six in a shootout, as Danbury won their fifth straight game.

Daigle and the entire Trashers team will be appearing from 8-9am on Tuesday morning at the "Guy In The Sky" site on the corner of North St. and Padanaram Ave. in Danbury to help 95.1 FM raise money for the United Way. I95 personality Neil Hedley is the "Guy In The Sky" and is living on top of a billboard for 16 days in order to promote awareness and raise funds for the United Way. The Trashers will be on-hand to sign autographs and greet fans that stop by, as well as take donations. In addition, team owner James Galante and his family will match any in-person donations during that hour on Tuesday morning.

The Trashers will face off at home on Wednesday night against Roanoke at 7:00pm. All fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to the 2nd Annual Trashers Food Drive. The items will benefit the Salvation Army and Community Action Committee in Danbury. All students who purchase tickets in person on Wednesday with a valid student ID can purchase discounted tickets for just $10.00 (reg. $14.00).
