KALAMAZOO, MI-Both teams came out with great intensity to emulate playoff style hockey, however, tonight the Kalamazoo Wings held tight and took game one of the best of seven series by a score of 2-1 at Wings Stadium.

The Mechanics got on the scoreboard first when Adam Edinger, who continues to have a stellar season, scored the first goal to give the Mechanics an early 1-0 lead.

The Wings scored just six minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 followed by another goal early in the second period.

That would be all they needed as they held on for the victory and a 1-0 series lead in this first round best of seven series.

Rod Branch made 30 saves in his first playoff appearance for the Mechanics.

The series continues tomorrow at Wings Stadium fro the second game of the series and then returns home to Fraser on Sunday for a 5:00 PM face-off.
