Adirondack Frostbite News Release

MUSKEGON, MI - The Muskegon Fury scored four unanswered goals in the third period to come back and defeat the Adirondack Frostbite 5-3 in the first game of their first-round series on Friday night at Walker Arena.

The Fury drew first blood 10:12 into the contest. Kris Tebbs made the initial save on a David Wrigley shot, but the rebound came free to Billy Collins at the hash marks, and he was able to push the puck across the line to give Muskegon the 1-0 lead.

Adirondack pulled even late in the opening period with a power-play tally. Greg Koehler fed Hugo Belanger skating across the Fury blue line, and Belanger rifled a wrist shot past Nick Boucher for the goal to make it 1-1 after one period.

The Frostbite took their first lead just 1:09 into the second period. After a long pass just missed springing Ryan Bennett on a breakaway, the Frostbite caught up to the loose puck in behind the Muskegon net. Mark Hurtbuise dug the puck free, and found Sylvain Cloutier wide open on the near post, and Cloutier redirected the shot past Boucher to make it 2-1.

Adirondack added its second power-play goal, this time with a 5-on-3 advantage, of the night midway through the second to take a 3-1 lead through 40 minutes. Bennett fed the puck to the front of the net, and Koehler was able to jam it home on the far post for his first playoff tally.

Muskegon scored a pair of goals just 12 seconds apart early in the third period to knot the score at three. After failing to score on their first six power-play opportunities of the night, the Fury finally found the board on their seventh chance. Rustyn Dolyny gathered in a rebound at the top of the crease and jammed it past Tebbs to make it 3-2 at 5:57.

Off of the ensuing face-off, the Fury came right back into the Frostbite zone and Robin Bouchard blasted a slap shot past Tebbs from the left-wing circle to tie the score.

The Fury then went back on top at 10:56. Trevor Johnson's long shot from the blue line was tipped in front by Bouchard and rolled behind Tebbs to give Muskegon the lead back.

Muskegon made it a two-goal lead at 14:48 as Todd Robinson skated in around the wall in the Frostbite end and came back in front on the far post and jammed a shot past Tebbs for his first of the post-season.

The two teams return to the ice at Walker Arena on Saturday for game two of the first round series. Face-off is once again set for 7:30 p.m., with all of the action on WCKM 98.5 starting with the pre-game show at 7:10.

Game three of the series is set for Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Prior to the game, the band Skeeter Creek will perform a free concert, courtesy of Adirondack Broadcasting and Froggy 107, on the plaza of the Glens Falls Civic Center starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office, or by calling (518) 798-0202.
